Birthday challenge wheel for a party at the table
Twelve challenges that work for children and adults, all playable where everyone is already sitting.
A birthday party at home tends to stall right after the cake: presents are open, photos are taken, and nobody knows what happens next. A wheel with challenges already on it fills exactly that gap. The twelve here run at the table, need no props, put nobody on the spot, and take about a minute each, which is short enough that the youngest guests stay interested.
How do we play the birthday wheel?
Put the phone in the middle and let each guest spin once and do what comes up. The birthday person goes first and gets one free pass.
- Let the birthday person open
It is the easiest way to start, because everyone watches that turn and picks up the rules from it.
- Go round the table
About a minute per turn. Anyone who would rather not simply passes it on.
- Add challenges of your own
Write in a few tied to the birthday person, like a story only this group would know.
Birthday challenge wheel questions
Is it suitable for a children's party?
Yes. Nothing on the wheel involves drinking or adult humour, and no challenge asks for much running about. With younger children, read each turn aloud for them and keep the time per turn short.
How do we avoid repeating a challenge?
Open advanced settings and set after win to remove. Each challenge then comes up once, and reloading the page brings all twelve back for another round.
What if there are more than twelve guests?
Add more challenges before you start; the wheel takes up to a thousand slices. Or leave the default keep setting on, in which case a good challenge can come round again, which is usually funnier the second time.
