Scattergories letter wheel with the dead letters left off
Only letters people can actually write words from. A round never stalls because the pointer landed on something nobody can use.
A category word game falls apart the moment the letter comes up and the whole table goes quiet. This wheel drops the letters that cause that and keeps the twenty most playable ones, matching the standard twenty-sided letter die. Read out a category, spin for the letter, and start the timer. Add the hard letters back before you start if the group wants a tougher round.
How do I play a letter round?
Pick the categories first, spin for a letter, then give everyone two minutes to write answers beginning with it. Any answer that matches another player scores nothing.
- Read out the categories
Things in a kitchen, cities, films, anything. Specific categories are easier to score afterwards.
- Spin for the starting letter
The letter shows in the result panel, and the table starts writing the moment the wheel stops.
- Compare and score
Answers that two players wrote cancel each other out, and everything left standing scores a point.
Scattergories letter wheel questions
Why are Q, U, V, X, Y and Z missing?
They are the six the standard letter die leaves off, because a round spent on them mostly produces blank sheets. The wheel follows the same choice to keep the game moving, and you can add any of them back with the add entry box.
How do I get a different letter every round?
Open advanced settings and set after win to remove. A used letter leaves the wheel, so twenty rounds in a row can run without repeating one.
How many people can play?
As many as can see the screen, since everyone writes on their own sheet and only the letter is shared. For a big group, press fullscreen so the people at the far end can still read what came up.
