Classroom job wheel: hand out this week's jobs by spinning

Twelve everyday classroom jobs sit on the wheel. Call each table up to spin, whoever lands a job takes it, and the whole room sees it happen.

Handing out classroom jobs turns into an argument when the same children always get the easy ones. Letting the wheel decide takes under a minute of registration time and nobody can call it favouritism. The sample list covers twelve jobs that most primary and lower secondary rooms already run. Edit it down to the jobs your room actually has.

How does the classroom job wheel work?

Each slice is one job. Call students or tables up one at a time to spin, and because the wheel arrives with remove after win on, a job that has been handed out cannot come round again.

  1. Edit the list to your room

Delete the jobs you do not run and add your own, such as library runner or projector monitor.

  2. Handed-out jobs leave the wheel

Remove after win is already on, so each job belongs to one student only. Change it in advanced settings if you want jobs to stay.

  3. Spin once per student

Work through the register or the tables in order. The results tab keeps the full rota so you can copy it onto the board.

Classroom job wheel questions

How do I stop two students getting the same job?

That is already handled. This wheel ships with remove after win on, so the job leaves the wheel the moment it is handed out and the next spin only offers jobs nobody has yet. Reload the page when the round is finished and the full list comes back.

Some jobs take longer than others, is that fair?

Every slice has the same chance, so over a term the load evens out. If you want it even within one week, pair a heavy job with a light one in a single slice, such as chair stacker and lights, and spin for the pair.

Can I keep this week's rota?

Yes. The results tab lists the jobs in the order they were drawn, and the copy button puts the whole rota on your clipboard for the board or your class group. Sign in and save the wheel to reuse the same job list next week.
