Standup speaking order wheel: spin for who goes next

Whoever has spoken leaves the wheel, so when it empties the whole team has had its turn.

Running standup down the order of tiles on a call has a side effect every team knows: the same person always goes last, and by then the room has stopped listening. Spinning for the next speaker removes that pattern, and it removes the pause where nobody wants to start either. The sample list holds eight names; replace it with your team and save it for tomorrow morning.

How do I pick a standup order?

Enter the team and spin once before each update. The person who just spoke leaves the wheel, so nobody is called twice and nobody is missed.

  1. Enter the team and save it

Sign in and save the wheel so tomorrow it is waiting on your dashboard rather than retyped.

  2. Spin before each update

Share your screen so the team sees who is next and watches the wheel get smaller.

  3. Drop absences before you start

Delete anyone who is off, so no spin lands on an empty chair.

Standup order wheel questions

Why not just go down the call order?

Because that order is fixed, so the same person always opens and the same person always closes. A random order keeps attention up, and whoever went last today can go first tomorrow.

What about guests joining a standup?

Add them with the add entry box just before the meeting. If it is a one-off, remember to delete them afterwards so the wheel saved to your account still matches the team.

Does spinning for each turn slow the meeting down?

A spin runs about five seconds by default and you can set it to three in advanced settings. For a team of eight that is under half a minute across the whole standup.
