Magic 8 ball wheel: ask, spin, read the answer
Twelve replies, from certainly to ask again later. It is a party bit rather than advice, and it is meant to be read out loud.
The fun of a fortune-telling toy is the wording, not the verdict: it answers sideways instead of saying yes or no. This wheel keeps that. Twelve replies share the circle evenly, including the evasive ones that get the biggest laugh in a room. Ask your question out loud, spin once, and read what comes up. Rewrite the twelve in your own group's voice if the stock ones feel flat.
How do I play the magic 8 ball wheel?
Ask a question that yes or no would answer, press spin, and read the reply out loud. Everyone hears it at the same time, so nobody can massage it.
- Ask out loud first
Say the question before pressing so the room knows which question the reply belongs to.
- Spin and read the reply
The answer lands in the result panel. An evasive reply still counts as your turn.
- Rewrite the replies
Change the twelve into your group's own phrasing, or add in-jokes only your friends will get.
Magic 8 ball wheel questions
Do the answers mean anything?
No, and that is the point. All twelve slices are the same size and the number behind the spin comes from crypto.getRandomValues, so there is no fortune telling involved. What makes it worth doing is the reaction in the room, not the reply itself.
Is this the real toy?
This is a wheel that plays the same game, not a product from any manufacturer. The replies are ours and you can edit every one of them, and there is no shaking and no window full of blue liquid.
How does it work with a big group?
Press fullscreen and let people take turns asking one question and spinning once. The results tab keeps the replies in order, and reading them back at the end is usually funnier than the spins were.
